Northeastern Chinese City of Dalian to Build Maglev Train Line
Chinese government-controlled news media say the northeastern port city
of Dalian will build the country's first home-grown commercial magnetic
levitation train line.
Known as "maglev", the technology uses powerful magnets to suspend a
train above its rails and drive it forward at high speed.
Shanghai has China's first maglev train line, connecting its international
airport and business district. It was built with German technology.
Dalian's plans are for a shorter, slower, three-kilometer line along a
yet-to-be-determined route in the city's development zone.
The Chinese technology to be used varies somewhat from the maglev trains
built in Germany and Japan. The chief engineer on the team developing the
technology says it will cost about half what foreign systems do.

路，具体的路线目前还没有确定。
即将使用的中国技术与德国和日本的磁浮列车技术有一些区别。开发这项技术的
团队总工程师说，线路的造价大约是国外系统的一半左右。
