Chinese, Sudanese President Discuss Darfur Peace Efforts

Sudanese officials say President Omar al-Bashir and Chinese President Hu Jintao discussed efforts to bring peace to Darfur during their talks in Khartoum Friday. The Associated Press quotes one official as saying President Hu urged Mr. Bashir to work harder to bring more Darfur rebels into the peace process.There has been no comment from Chinese officials.

Western nations have pushed Beijing to pressure Sudan to allow U.N. peacekeepers into Darfur. However, China has generally refused to intervene in the affairs of its African business partners.
