A new public opinion survey in South Korea indicates more people
view China rather than North Korea as the bigger security threat
10 years from now. The survey was released Monday by the Korea
Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA), a state-funded think thank.
Thirty-eight percent of those surveyed picked China as the biggest
future threat to South Korea, citing Beijing's growing military

threat by 24 percent of respondents, while North Korea was third,
with 21 percent. Fifteen percent of respondents picked the United
States as the most threatening country a decade from now. The
pollsters conducted the survey in December, questioning about one
thousand South Koreans.
