Japan Welcomes Possible Visit Of Chinese President Hu Jintao
Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe says Tokyo would welcome a
visit by Chinese President Hu Jintao. Shinzo Abe said Monday that Mr.
Hu's statement that he would like to go to Japan reflects the importance
of relations between Tokyo and Beijing. Mr. Hu Jintao told a Japanese
diplomat Saturday that he hopes to visit Japan at an appropriate time
under the right conditions.
Relations between the two countries have been strained by disputes over
interpretations of history and rights to natural resources. One main
sticking point has been the repeated visits by Japanese Prime Minister
Junichiro Koizumi to Tokyo's Yasukuni shrine, where some convicted war
criminals are honored along with Japan's other war dead.

of its controversial nuclear program.Government spokesman Gholam Hossein
Elham told reporters in Tehran Monday that Iran has a right to the
technology it has obtained and will not negotiate over what he called
the country's obvious and absolute nuclear rights.
The United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China have

nuclear fuel. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said
Sunday some parts of the plan are acceptable, but other parts are
ambiguous or unacceptable. He did not say which points Tehran found
unacceptable.
The International Atomic Energy Agency opens a meeting of its 35-nation
board Monday in Vienna to discuss the Iran situation and other nuclear
issues.
