Chinese Filmmaker Released After Five Months in Custody
The sister of filmmaker Wu Hao who was detained by Chinese authorities
says on her Website he has been released after five months in custody. Wu Hao
was detained on February 22nd while working on a documentary about
underground Christians in China. Authorities refused to give a reason for his
detention, but said the case was a matter of national security.
Wu is a permanent resident of the United States and lived there for 12
years before returning to China in 2004. Reporters Without Borders, a
Paris-based press freedom group, had lobbied for Wu's release. In a statement, the
group says it is "immensely relieved," but added that 50 other people are
still being held in China in connection with their Internet writings.

吴皓是美国永久居民,2004年回到中国之前在美国居住了12年。总部设在巴黎的
媒体自由组织记者无国界为吴皓的获释进行了游说。在一份声明中,该组织说,
他们感到“非常宽慰”。但是,该组织又补充说,目前中国还有50多人由于和网
上写作有关的原因依然在押。
